Fukuoka (Japan) Education Delegation Visited Clifford School
In the afternoon of 7 Nov., a refreshing autumn day, Clifford School met its Japanese guests coming afar -- Fukuoka (Japan) Education Delegation.

Accompanied by Feng Zhu, a government official from Guangzhou Education Bureau, the seven-member delegation headed by Ukitomiko, chairman of the Committee of Education of Fukuoka, came to Clifford School for a visit.


At the reception hall of the school, a warm and simple welcome ceremony was held hosted by Principal Luo Jieming. Dr. Zhang (School Director) delivered a welcome speech in which he made a brief introduction of the school¡¯s achievement over the past decade in its ¡°bilingual education integrating the strengths of both the Chinese and Western education¡±. Ukitomiko in his counter speech thanked the invitation and warm reception extended by the Guangzhou Municipality, thanked the Clifford School for providing such a wonderful opportunity, and said they would bring our successful experience in education back to Fukuoka.

The School Director and Principals then showed the delegation around the distinctive Chinese & English bilingual classrooms and the special-purpose activity rooms. They came to a halt at the door of E120 for listening, attracted by an interesting class taught by a Western teacher, and commended the bilingual program unceasingly¡­ in S319, they saw G8D students in groups busy with collage ¨C¨C using various materials of different colors for a quasi-3D composition to bring out a sense of beauty. The students¡¯ creativity and fine quality left the guests a deep impression.


Six Japanese students of Clifford School joined the reception ceremony. Seeing the Japanese children growing in health and harmony with schoolmates of multi-nations, Ukitomiko, excitedly, thanked the Chinese and Western faculty for the cares granted to the Japanese students, and mentioned repeatedly the unusual success made by the Clifford School in bilingual and multi-cultural education.

As a token of welcome to the Japanese guests, the School presented gifts to the Delegation ¨C¨C a paper-cut of characters in the Chinese classic of Dreams of the Red Mansion and Selected Works by Clifford School Faculty & Students. The Delegation gave their own gifts in return, all which has revealed a shared wish by the two peoples for eternal friendship.
